Percent yield
Formula: Percent yeild = ( Actual yield/ Theoretical Yield) x 100
Example: 2H2 + o2 -----} 2H2O
G: 2.5 22.4g Theortical Yeild
gfm: 2.016 g/mol x 18.015 g/mol
Mole: 1.24 1.24 mol
Step 1- Calculate the gfm of H2 and H2O
Step 2- Calculate the grams of water formed by the 2.5 g of hydrogen
Step 3- Divide what was obtained experimentally by the theoretical yeild of water and multilpy by 100 to get the precent
% yield = (Experimental / calculated) x 100
(18/22.4) x 100 = 80.3%
Example: N2 + 3H2 ----} 2 NH 3
2 6 4
Percent Yeild= (actual yield / Theoretical yield) = (2/4) x 100 = 50%
